All images disappeared
Hello,
This morning when I was working on my storyline file, all of a sudden the images disappeared.
The strange thing is that I can still see them in the thumbnails, but when I go to the actual slide they no longer appear.
Stranger still, they still to have been remplaced by a transparent image, because I can still click on them ...
This is extremely problematic because I either have to re-insert all my images, or go back to a previous version of my file and re-do all the work that has been done in the mean time.
I have attached a sample of my Storyline file.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Do you know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks!
Allison

Hi Ashley, thank you for your response. The course was originally built with Storyline 360. I had a bit of a crash while working in the course and that may have caused a corruption because the last half of the course didn't have problems with the images or audio. What was interesting is that even when I started a brand new project and tried to insert the images and audio files, they would also not appear or play. I followed another person's suggestion to rename the media files and that allowed me to change out the image files, so I have been successful in getting my course published. It would be helpful to know what might have caused it since there seems to be many people having the issue over the years. I will go ahead and repair Storyline to see if this prevents future problems. Thank you!
Thanks, Lu for that update! I saw that Renson was also able to test your file and determined that it was corrupt as well. Identifying the cause of file corruption is tricky, if not impossible at times, but it does sound like the naming of the media files could be connected? This article has some reminders on how to prevent corruption, and the section on file names and paths would apply to files outside of Storyline even.

I see that this is a 2 year old issue, however it just happened to me. Using Storyline 2. I see all the images on the left and none on the right.
Hi Rise Final,
Happy to try and help you resolve this!
First, is your file saved to your local hard drive? If so, try importing the slides into a new Storyline file.
If that doesn't help, share your file with our team by clicking here. We'll take a closer look!
Hi Rise,
Thanks for reaching out and for sharing an image of what you are experiencing.
I'd be happy to help you out.
- Are you working from your local hard drive?
- Software, project files, and assets
- Have you tried importing the slides into a new file?
Hi Cleona,
I'm not sure if you saw Leslie's response that was just a couple weeks ago. Did you already try those steps and confirm that you're not running into any elements of corruption?

Hi there. I am using Storyline as part of 360, and I have just had the same thing. Luckily as far as I can see, it's only on two slides, but I have three other lessons in the same file that I need to check. Have any other solutions been tried in the past two years sicnee the last post? Thanks
Hi Cleona,
As you can see from the conversation here, this has been a difficult one to replicate and track down.
We certainly still advise being sure that you're working locally on your software, project files, and assets.
Curious if the issue happens in any course you are working on or just this particular one?
If you cannot re-create the issue in a new course, I would advise to import the file into a new one and proceed.
If it's happening in any/all files, you should certainly conduct a repair of your software.
If you need us to take a look, feel free to share the .story file with our team here.

This happened to me today. One of those super basic issues that drove me nuts - I just gave up. Good thing I had a copy of the original file saved to the cloud...
I'm really sorry you had to deal with that, Glenna. If it happens again or you need more help, please let me know!

I continue to have this issue on certain projects, and it's EXTREMELY frustrating and inefficient. Surprising that this issue seems to have come up over 7 years ago, and still exists today. Images are there, but not visible, only their bounding box appears when clicked. Could this be dependent on how large an image file is? Wish we could get more insight into this issue from the Articulate team. I'm an avid Articulate user, and always update my software when there's an update and exclusively work with local files. I've replaced all graphics in my project in which this is happening, then when I published it, they're gone again. And when I open the file, sure enough they've disappeared again.
