Animation in Storyline through the Morph Transition
- 6 months ago
Hello everyone, 🎉
I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 98, we’ve included essential fixes and new features. One of the new features we’ve included is:
- Engage learners with fluid transitions that seamlessly animate objects, shapes, and other content between slides.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions.
SL already has motion paths. I have been able to manually "fake" morphing in SL by
- placing an object
- Use a motion path to move it to another position on a trigger
- Paste a second copy of the original object in the final position over the first object.
- Cut the second object and then paste on the next slide at 0sec with no animation
- Morph!
So, the concept is not undoable. I can imagine the process to make that MORPH event a built-in transition could be something similar? 2 objects on adjacent slides/layers that are linked. The end position of the first object is the start position of the second.

Great idea Jerry! I am inspired.
At Storyline, can we have an update as to whether this is being considered?

Yes. And the magic we can't get from motion paths is the morphing of shape and size. I'd like to have this effect between layers too!

Agreed Paul. Not a morph replacement, but could work in some circumstances.
