We do have some best practice tips for images and videos, which you can check out here.
You mentioned your story size, but what size are your images and are they being re-sized?
I agree with Stefan and if we could take a look at your .story file, that would be helpful. If you cannot share it here in the forums, you are welcome to share here privately for our team to take a look and the file will be deleted when troubleshooting is completed.
