Can the Close Caption button's icon be changed?
Hello All,
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the icon on the Closed Caption button in Storyline 3? The client in which I am building for requires the closed caption button to display a CC, and the default button on the Storyline player is just an image of a Caption box.
Thanks

Hi,
I don't think it can be changed in the player but you could create a custom CC button on your slides (probably your slide master) and toggle the variable "Player.DisplayCaptions" to turn them on and off.
Hope this helps.

I think you're stuck with it. You would need to create your own CC button. You could always try adding the CC mark directly above it on the background. Maybe they would opt for that as a partial solution.
Having the option to swap the icon would be a nice feature.

HELP!!! I want to place a button "cc" over the closed caption icon. There has to be a way????
Hi Sharria,
You won't be able to add your own button into the player itself, but you could use a method such as James described to create a button on your slide that will toggle the captions on/off.
Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi Ashley,
What is the feature enhancement request URL? I created customer training, and most of my customers are banks. They have been complaining that the CC button doesn't look like CC.
I've tried to put it on my master slide, but then the navigation UX is messed up as there is a random button on the slide instead of the player.
Did I see somewhere where someone posted a js method to put it as a link at the top left/right?

I put this in as a feature request (https://articulate.com/support/contact/feature-request).

I agree. Can you tell me why Articulate decided to deviate from the accepted standard for the look of the closed caption button? In the interests of making navigation as intuitive as possible, it would seem like using the "CC" symbol would be the default choice.
Hi Miriam,
Thanks so much for that honest feedback, and I appreciate the insight you've shared here. I've pass all of this along to my team.
I did want to mention that the closed caption button in the Modern Player uses the standard "CC" symbol.

Is there a way to move where the closed caption box appears on the slide?

As far as I know, all the button positions are in a "fixed" position. If you want a closed caption button in a certain place you would need to create your own. It also would need to be placed somewhere in the content area.
It might be nice feature if Storyline offered an alternate placement option, like all buttons centered in the middle of the slide. A client asked me about that one time.

Yes, I understand the CC button on the player area is locked; however, I was hoping that the actual captions might be moved around on the slide to account for graphics and texts on it.

There is no option to specify the position of the caption box.
