Cannot select an object using Tab
Hello,
I am currently working on an accessible course and I am adding alt text to graphics, shapes and pictures. I would like the alt text to be read when these objects are selected. However, I cannot select these objects using Tab nor Shift+Tab, I can only navigate the player. What should I do to ensure the course is accessible? How can I select the objects in a slide using keyboards?
Thanks,

Hi Team RDL,
I'm happy to chime in! I agree with everything that Phil and Ron shared above. But I would also like to share our article below:
Screen Reader Users Keyboard-Only Users Learners use their screen reader navigation keys (e.g., Down and Up arrows) to move through all text and interactive objects on the slide, listening to each item along the way. Learners who use keyboard-only navigation without a screen reader for mobility reasons press Tab and Shift+Tab to move from one interactive object to another on the slide. Press the spacebar or the Enter key to activate an item. Use Tab and Shift+Tab to jump from one interactive object to another, skipping text and images. Since keyboard-only users can see text and images, these objects get skipped when tabbing through the slide content. This reduces the number of keystrokes needed to navigate the slide. Press the spacebar or the Enter key to activate an interactive object, such as a button or hotspot. Text and images are not interactive objects by default, so Screen Reader users can click their screen reader navigation keys (e.g., Down and Up arrows) to move through them. But if you want them to use the Tab key for text and images, you can add a trigger to each object to make them interactive.
Let me know if that helps clear things out!

Hi Eric
I have text boxes that I need users to be able to interact with using the Tab key. I have added a few triggers to each one, but I still cannot interact with them. Do you have any suggestions?
Hello Sonica!
Thanks for reaching out! The Tab key navigates to interactive elements like buttons and links. To navigate through text, you would use the Up and Down Arrows.
These are standard keyboard shortcuts for users so you shouldn't need to add in any triggers to modify this behavior.

Hi I have used buttons so these text boxes are interactive. But I can't seem to interact with them using the keyboard ie Tab key. Removed the triggers but its still not accessible via keyboard.

What are you trying to do with the text boxes? I am trying to understand the logic here.
Have you checked their position in the focus order?

Hi Phil,
Thanks for your attention.
I am editing an existing storyline Pick-One Question interaction which is serving as a multiple-choice scenario question with three options. I am unable to use the keyboard to tab through the question and two of the three options. I can tab to the first option and the submit button.I have checked the position in the focus order and its seems fine. I have also tried to create new buttons to replace the existing text boxes. This worked but only till I updated the pick one form with the new text boxes. I am back to square one now.

For questions tab to the first option use up and down to move through the options enter or space to select if multiple response. Sent from my iPhone

Thank you. I can move through the answer options using the up and down arrows.
I am unable to tab to the scenario question or the page title though. Should I change the text box to a button so its interactive and is accessible using a keyboard?

You should only be able to tab to interactive objects. Text it self will be read by a screen reader without being tabbed to.
