Challenge: Make Finance Fun
Hey, heroes!
Hoping for some inspiration for a course I'm working on. The topic is "Financial Acumen for Hotel Leaders," and the content is a bit dry. The learning objectives are to become fluent in key terms & acronyms, know how to interpret financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), and use key metrics to analyze financial health. Unfortunately, my client doesn't have the budget for video, so the course is fairly text-heavy. And who likes to read about math? 😠I'm using as many interactive features as possible but wondering if y'all have any fun or creative ideas to drive learner engagement without leveraging video? Help me unblock!

Kristen, one idea that comes to mind is introducing the concepts with a 'lesson learned' that the users might be familiar with. Like, "Did you know that in 2022 the XYZ franchise in New York filed for bankruptcy due to a Balance Sheet error?" With some research you might be able to find news articles to reference.

Ooh, I love this idea! I'll do some sleuthing and see if I can dig up anything that is industry-specific!
