Create Error Message

Hello, 

What is the easiest way to generate an error message on a regular slide?  I am building training slide decks that require the user to click in a certain area to move forward.  I want to have an error message if the user clicks outside of that area.  

Is the best option to have the error message as a separate layer and have the Trigger be "When User Clicks 'slide title', show 'error message layer"? 

In Adobe Captivate there is a whole Error prompt option selectable, and we are trying to move on from Captivate to something better.

    A trigger can run when the user clicks outside of a specified object. 

    So if there's an object the user is supposed to click to advance, you could show the error-message layer when they click anything else.
