Custom Block in Rise not Saving Changes

I am trying out the new Custom Block feature in Rise. I've used the feature two times in my course. However, I am running into an issue in the second usage where Rise doesn't properly save any changes I make.

Here's what happens:

  • I add a new new Custom Block (either blank or a template).
  • I design the block to my liking and paste in the text I need.
  • I use the Rise back button on the top-left to go back to the main course.
  • I see the block in my course and looks as it should
  • However, if I close the course (or browser tab), all my text gets deleted and replaced with the word "Paragraph".
  • The same thing happens if I click the edit button on the Custom Block

With that said, my first Custom Block earlier in the course does not exhibit the same behavior. I've tried closing my browser and then reopening the course to rebuild the Custom Block, but the behavior keeps happening.

Any ideas on what is causing this bug or weird behavior? Thank you.

    Hi DanielBodhai627,

Thanks for sharing those details! You’re right to ask about that behavior. There was a temporary issue yesterday that caused text edits in Rise 360 Custom Blocks not to save properly. The good news is that it’s already been resolved.

Please refresh your browser to make sure you’re working with the latest version of Rise 360, then try editing your custom block again. Your changes should now save correctly.

It sounds like duplicating the course gave you a working copy, which is a good workaround while the fix rolled out. If you notice anything unusual after refreshing, please let us know or reach out through a support case so we can take a closer look.

  • Quick update: I duplicated the course, and I don't seem to have an issue with the copy. So, I at least have a working version to work with. However, I would still be curious if anyone had ideas of why this happened in the first place and any other things I could try.

  • Thank you, Eric. I checked the original version of the course and indeed it is fixed there. Thank you for fixing the bug and letting me know.
