Dead zone SL3

Just wondering if there is any word on when the dead zone at the bottom of the slides in SL 3 will be remedied? Keeping the volume button on in the player prevents it, but turn off the volume button and the dead zone becomes active. Thank you!

      Hi,

I have the older version of SL3 where volume button is on left side of seekbar.
I have seen in the updated version where the volume button is appearing on right side of seekbar.

I wanted to know whether it is intended change and when it has changed?

Is there any customisation on volume button so that i can place it either on left side of the seekbar?

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated..

  • Hello Anup,

I appreciate you taking the time to reach out regarding the volume button in Storyline 3.

This change was intentional and changed on April 13, 2021, in Build 3.12.24693.0.

We do have an open feature request for the ability to customize built-in player controls, so I've added this conversation to the report. I wanted to share some information about how we manage these feature requests, which may be helpful.

Thank you for this. Does this mean that the dead zone is intentional so that the volume button MUST be on the player whether or not there is any audio in the project?

      Thank you,
      Sylvia Wright

Thank you Leslie for giving such quick response.
I will go through it and let you know if i need any more help from you.

  • I apologize for any confusion, Sylvia. My response was to Anup's question above. We still have an open issue regarding the issue you shared with our team.

      Hi Leslie,

I have one more requirement mentioned below.

I am using SL3 where i want to add 10sec rewind & 30sec forward buttons to the seekbar. Currently this feature is available in Storyline 360 but not found in SL3.

If possible can we use javascript or can I use any triggers to match my requirement?

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi Anup!

      Happy to jump in here!

My teammate Leslie shared a link to a related discussion where she answered a similar question! I'll also open the floor to our helpful community who may be able to provide additional Javascript solutions for you!

Thank you Anup. The last word from Articulate on the Dead Zone issue was 2 years ago and it is still an issue, even in SL360. Anything in the pipeline for repairing this? Due to the international scope of our materials and limited staff, audio is not a viable option for us at present. So the audio button is not helpful, but because of the glitch in SL it has to be active in the player. Thank you for any help!
