Disable specific key press for a given amount of time as soon as the key was pressed

Hello everyone, 

I'm running into a javascript scenario which I cannot manage on my own.

The problem is pretty simple in nature:

I need to be able to disable left arrow key press for 0.60 seconds as soon as it's pressed down once and then reenable it as soon as the 0,60 seconds reaches 0, and same for right arrow key press, any help from a javascript knowledgeable person would be much appreciated on that topic.

Thanks a lot in advance for your precious help, unfortunatly, I cannot share the material for which this is required.

I'm hoping someone can help me with this because so far I've done all I could do to counter the lacks in articulate, but this functionnality is the only thing I was not able to counter.
