thank you. so as a novice bear with me...
I'm looking at the files in the Storyline Output folder. Do I change the "story_html5" file name to "story.aspx"?
- MonicaQuijadaCommunity Member
Just the story.html file.
Hmm, well I'm not so savvy with Sharepoint, but looks like they were referring to the story.html and not the story_html5.html, correct?

I have three "story" files; story, story_html5, story_unsupported.
Which one do I change to story.aspx?

Just story.

How did you do that Steve. I can't figure out how to change to ASPX. I am working in windows 10 and it doesn't seem to give me the option for changing a file type

Try to use a text editor software to rename - save as .aspx. Here is a screenshot using Notepad under windows 10:
Thanks for popping in to assist Monica - and for confirming :)

I recently built out this method to save variables to SharePoint 2010 from Articulate Storyline 2.
I think you might find it useful and you do not even need to store your files on SharePoint. This comes in handy when a project is larger than the permitted storage on your server.
All the best,
Kevin
Hi Kevin- Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Crystal this can turn SharePoint into a free easy to use LMS. Just pass the variable from Storyline to SharePoint and along with some default fields in SharePoint then bingo. I stopped short of passing multiple variables it would make a good future upgrade.
All the best,
Kevin

Hi Guys,
I just took over a position in my office, and I need to edit some of the content of an already published storyline on the sharepoint platform. Unfortunately, the author as left and doing a lot of investigative work as there was no transfer of knowledge. I was able to download the content of the file, and I need life saving ideas of how I can come up with a solution. Below is the structure of the content of the downloaded file, and attached is a screen shot.
Training Story= (Story_content folder + meta: XML document + Story: HTML file+ Story: flash movie).
Story_content folder = ( Slides folder + 143 flash movies files+ 1 HTML file named blank + 41 JPG files + 1 Story JS file + 1 MP4 file + 4 PNG files + 1 XML file named frame ).
Slides folder = (40 .swf files).
Thanks in advance for all your comments.
NB: I am awaiting access into Linux server to also check maybe a .storyline was dumped there, but I want to start working on the options I have so I won't end up being surprised.

Hi Ade,
To start with you should be able to view the content by just clicking on the story.html file.
In order to track a user you would normally use and LMS with a SCORM produced set of files.
I guess the real question is do you already have an LMS installed and if so what LMS is it? As well, what will be the login ID and password required to manage the LMS?
But to get you started, you should just click the story.html file to see if the training will at least work.

Hello Kevin,
I have opened up the story.html file, its the code for the
training program. I am not an expert in HTML but I can read and interprete
basic codes, and from the file, I can see that it has an active x object.
shockwaveflash file, some java script file as well.
What do you suggest I do? I am supposed to add some tabs and sections to
the existing file, and building a new one would take ages.

You will require the .story file in order to edit the content.
Currently what you have access to would appear to be the rendered out version of the .story file.

Hi Kevin,
Are you implying that there's no way I can build a storyline
file with all these files?
- KevinBrake1Community Member
Hi Ade,
In reply to your statement: "Are you implying that there's no way I can build a storyline
file with all these files?"Storyline files are normally in two states:
- Rendered out
- Unrendered source (.story)
Without the source file "myfile.story" you can not edit the content or produce out a revised versions of the content. Of course you would also need a copy of Articulate Storyline to make the changes.
So, you could recreate from the rendered out source files but it would take sometime:
