dissolving layers or objects on layers when close button is used
Hi,
When my layers open up, some of the objects on the layer fade in of fly in.
How can I make these objects fly out and fade out when a user (for example) hits the close (sluit) button on the layer.
The behavior now is if the user hits the close button on the layer, the layer immediately disappears and that is not how my customer would like to see it. (see example slide)
He would like to see the objects fade out and fly out before the layer is eventually closed.
I have tried different triggers, but so far I can get it to work. Hope you can help!
Many thanks and have a good day!

Hi,
just a bit different from Steve without duplicating the layer;
you could add the exit animation to the elements, make them quite short and "pause the timeline" at a cue point, and when you click the close button resume the timeline... for sure the att example will be clearer than my explanation, hope it helps.

One way to accomplish this is to duplicate the layer you want to hide, remove the entrance animations, apply exit animations, and reduce the length of the timeline to the duration of the exit animation. Then, add a trigger on the original layer to display the "closing" layer when the user elects to close the original layer. See attached.

I’d suggest grouping the objects you want to fade out and fly out before the layer is closed. Then, create a motion path animation for the group that’s triggered when the close button is clicked. Finally, hide the layer once the animation completes.

That would be how I would typically do it as well, Nedim. To be consistent with the original entrance animations, however, in my example I retained the fade for the exit animation of the image and text and fly out for the panel.

That’s the beauty of Storyline — there are often multiple ways to achieve the same result. My intention was simply to offer an alternative approach, and I definitely learned something new from your solution as well. If I were Nathalie, I’d feel confident going with either of the options shared in this thread.
