Does Articulate have any plans to make a Mac OS compatible version of Storyline?
Or any other products?

I agree with you Lilian. They may not lose enough potential customers to warrant Mac development, but I assume they've done their research in that area and not due to shortsightedness for growth opportunities. They do essentially lose people like me, because I use it when I have to (using Parallels) but generally don't recommend it to other Mac users who ask. It only gets a quick mention b/c while Parallels runs it acceptably, there is a small handicap in that it may not run reliably when using some of the more integrative features of Parallels. I'd rather have native or equal quality web-based tools.

I wonder how much money Articulate is foregoing in their stubborn refusal to develop a Mac version? Lots of other companies have both PC and Mac options for purchase. Articulate 360 is a very expensive purchase for a private consultant like me who only uses it when a client requests it. I have to maintain a PC machine for this purpose and if I need to work on something with a client at their premises I can't, because the Storyline file is not on my Mac laptop. Very frustrating. As H5P becomes more sophisticated, and installed on lots of LMSs I think I will probably let my Articulate licence lapse in the next couple of years.

For consideration -- Many corporations have security policies which prevent parallels/boot camp from being utilized. I have a PC for the sole purpose of using the Articulate suite, which honestly creates a poor experience on my end. Just a ping in favor of a Mac-based application; I will never consider using Articulate for myself or with a future employer unless I can use it on Mac.
Thanks for sharing your voice here, Derek.

I use a Mac and I also use Storyline. The biggest frustration for me was the additional license cost of both VMware plus Windows. But otherwise, not a huge deal to start it and everything works in there just fine. Too bad there are no plans for a Mac version.

I haven't tried it on my Mac after a very bad experience years and years
ago trying to use Articulate Engage in parallels. Maybe I will try

I recently switched to a Mac with Parallels and it is working out perfectly for the most part. It's a learning curve using Windows through a Mac and some minor issues using shortcuts but overall I've been pretty satisfied.

Hi Ryan could you please explain your experience using Articulate 360 in MacBook. I mean minor isuues and all as i am plannig to switch on mac and i am mainly working on Articulate storyline 360. It will be easy to identify those issues.

Kiran, It has been very good overall. I hate that my company has to pay for a subscription, but that's the best we can do without a Mac version of Articulate. The biggest issues I have has to do with pixel size. When you are extending your screen to another monitor, it's very hard to manage the aspect ratio (you have to play around with the display settings a lot) and the size of the app itself. I stopped using my laptop screen because of it and strictly use a second very large monitor.
Another issue is the keyboard shortcuts are different on PCs, and many of them do not work in Storyline using a Mac in Parallels.
The other issue I was having was that Storyline would save an instance of a project every time I would save it (in a location very hard to find in the Windows folder structure), which was crushing my hard drive and filling up my entire 1 TB space. I found it in a "Storyline Cache" folder, but still have to continually delete these instances.
Hi Lilian,
I myself also use a Mac, but I've found that working in Parallels or VMWare allows me to run a Windows environment and work in Storyline. It's really fast and an easy transition between the two. I can understand if that's not ideal for your setup, but it hopefully provides an alternative to booting up that old PC machine when it's not collecting dust on your desk.

Right... but those softwares add another additional cost to the whole package.

It's such a shame that you don't plan to include Macs. I know many developers who use Macs and it is a real pain to have to go to a PC platform. It's the ONLY software I use that requires me to turn on my horrible PC. Please reconsider.

Articulate 360 not having a Mac version, really is a shame...I'm running storyline on my Mac through the VMWare, but it isn't an ideal situation. I have to go back and forth regularly, and it doesn't make it for an easy and convenient process. Also, it bugs down my computer. I wish they would re-consider releasing a Mac version for Storyline.

Sheeple buy MACS. I had to buy a Macbook Pro just to open a Logic Pro X project. Other than that it's just an over-priced (repeat > over-priced) paper-wait that sits on the opposite corner of my desk. - Baaaaahhhhhhhh.
- RyanSchwartzCommunity Member
Robert, you might want to clarify your statement, because the way I read this - you are calling everyone on this post "Sheeple" and telling them to buy MACS.:)
And I would kindly disagree. Many designers use software that requires a lot of processing. Every PC I've owned took 5 times the amount of time to process a task than a Mac. For example, my 8 GB PC would would take 6 minutes to export a 2 minute edited video (Adobe Premiere). My 8 GB Mac does it in 1. I know there are other factors to compare, but I've had better graphics cards, video cards, and more RAM on a PC, and still was outperformed by my Mac of lesser "power."

Agreed....
Awesome, happy to hear that Ryan!

Thank you. We've actually recently decided to go with 360.

Hi Ryan
How is this working out for you on the Mac?

Adam,
Parallels seems to be sufficient, although paying for an extra subscription just to use Storyline is an inconvenience. Parallels does give me issues from time to time and the shortcuts that work on PC don't always work on a Mac. All in all, it is okay, but an inconvenience.
