drag and drop - return only incorrect answers
I have a standard drag and drop set up where students must drop all the correct answers into one place.
I can reset the slide so all of the items go back to their original positions but what I really want to do is have the slide to reset only the incorrect answers.
So when the student clicks submit they will get feedback and then the correct answers will stay on the drop target and the incorrect answers will return to their original state.
Any help would be greatly received.

Hi Katie and welcome to Heroes!
There are a few threads (both with examples by Becky) that may help you out - you'll want to use the "dropped correct/incorrect" states of each object.
Please let us know if you need anything else!

I have a question on storyline360 the drag and drop, after submit the wrong answer, it will show the incorrect feedback, then I press try again, I no need to drag and drop then press the submit, it will show the incorrect feedback again. How can I fix it.
Hello StevenWong-e028,
Thanks for reaching out! What you're seeing is expected behavior. When a learner clicks Try Again, Storyline retains the previous drag-and-drop positions unless they’re manually adjusted.
So if Submit is clicked without making any changes, Storyline interprets it as another incorrect answer and shows the same feedback.
To assist you further, could you let me know what your intended behavior is? For example, are you hoping for the drag items to return to their original positions after clicking Try Again?
Let me know what you have in mind, and I’ll be happy to help you set it up.

I can create a dropped correct/incorrect trigger for each item but I still can't see which trigger I would use to return only the dropped incorrect items to their initial starting point.

Hi Katie,
My apologies, I seem to have misunderstood your original question. I haven't seen an example of how to return the item to it's original location, after submitting.

OK - maybe you can help me with this.
The same outcome would be achieved if you could make an item disappear when 'dropped correct'
I can make that happen immediately but I can't make the state change wait until the submit button is pressed even though i have 'delay item drop states' checked.
Any suggestions?
Basically at this point i am stuck with an activity that is too easy if you return incorrect items and impossible if you allow unlimited attempts with a return to initial state

Hi Katie,
The attached DOES hide correctly dropped items, but I don't know if it will work for your purposes. It's very rough...just to give you the idea.
I've set it up for 3 attempts.
The 3 "correct" items have a drop correct state.
A trigger for each item changes its state to hidden when the Learner clicks the submit button if its state = Drop Correct.
The incorrectly dropped items stay on the target - so this is a hint to the Learner obviously. These items can be moved off after clicking Try Again.
I think it could get a bit confusing for Learners since they could end up w/a situation where they need to have nothing on the target and click Submit to get a correct answer. hmmm. I also copied/pasted the items onto the correct layer so at least when they get there they see the correct answers.
Again, not sure exactly what you were thinking in terms of the hidden items, but figured I'd start the conversation.

Is there any way to get only incorrect items to move back to their original location after navigating back from the Try Again screen?

But it does not return the wrong answer back to their starting point.

Thanks Rebecca - I think that might actually work.
It was the on condition states that I was missing.
I will let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again

Hi Katie,
Would love to see it if you can show it!

So - in theory your plan works out fine.
However because I have the info boxes that appear on mouse over I have to 'group' the picture and the text box.
So the only options i have for drag items are the groups.
But I cannot change states on the groups.
So - I am still stuck.

a little bit of compromise and I got there in the end!

Ah! The Learners are prompted that the items left in their carts are the incorrect ones. Glad you were able to work it out to your liking, Katie. Tx for posting back and sharing.
