Drag and drop bug: multiple items moved at once
Hi,
I have built a drag and drop sorting exercise in which the learner drags items into one of 3 boxes. I've noticed strange behavior where I click one item and start to drag, and several others suddenly jump up into one of the boxes. It seems to only happen on the second or third try. I can't figure out anything in the triggers that would cause this. See attached screen recording, and story file. Any help appreciated.
Thank you.
(I have gone ahead and submitted a help ticket for this as well, but would love to know if anyone has run across this.)

There is no story attached, but I have seen something like this. If on the second try, you use motion paths to return dropped items home, it happens. The system thinks the objects that are moved by the motion paths are still where they were dropped, because you didn't click on them and drag them. So when you start dragging, everything jumps to where the system thinks it is.

Sorry, here are the attachments. I think you are right though. I am using motion paths to return items home. So, now I need to figure out if there is another method to use to return items home, I guess?

I tried making the motion paths lines with zero length, centered on the original position but that didn't work. And just now I heard back from Articulate support that this is a known bug. See copied email below. They suggest two workarounds, neither of which is great.
But at least I know what is going on now. Thanks!

to lon@elearning-designer.comHi Lon,
Thanks for contacting Articulate Support!
I understand that you're having issues with the Drag and Drop interaction you've set up on your Storyline project.
Upon reviewing the Storyline project you've shared, it appears that the drag items have motion paths in them. We're currently monitoring a bug where drag items in Drag-and-Drop interaction behave erratically in succeeding attempts if they have a motion path applied to them.
As a workaround, you can set the Drop Target Options to "Snap to Center" or "Free" instead of Tile. See screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/rFkn0Rizht
I've added your case to our bug report and from here, I’ll meet with my team so we can prioritize accordingly.
Depending on priority and risk, some bugs can be fixed quickly, while others take longer to resolve. Here's more information on how we identify and tackle bugs: https://articulate.com/support/article/How-We-Tackle-Bugs
I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue and I’m sorry if it’s slowing you down.
