Drag and Drop with groupings- state issues?
I created a fairly simple drag and drop question for learners. The SME requested no actual quizzing for users, just simple knowledge checks. I created imagery squares, and then added a text box on top of the images to describe what the image represents for each of these medical emergencies.
The issue:
While creating this, I noticed that the drop incorrect and drop correct states do NOT work if ALL drag items are groups. BUT as soon as I delete the text on at least one of the images, it works exactly the way I'd like. I attached the file. Help?!
The states work great! BUT i am missing the text on the upper right hand one....All drag objects are groups with text- yay. BUT as you can see, the states did not get set after I select the submit button. Also I just want to add- yes, I could just add the text in canva where i made the images. This is more just for me understanding why this isn't working.
That's a weird issue, and I'm not sure why it's happening. I can't look at the at the moment. But I will offer a suggestion: Don't drag Groups.
You can get the same look with one object. I'd start with a shape that includes the text. While editing the shape, insert the image.

Thanks Judy- I sort of assumed that was probably the best idea. I still find it strange for sure!

You could submit a case to Articulate support, so they can look into the issue.

Hello ClaireIversen I have already noticed strange behavior with groups (causing problems in a carousel, for example, in a recent previous post on the Forum). So, very simply, don't use them in this case. Cut the text that is grouped with each image (so there is no longer a group) and paste the text onto each state of your image (normal, correct drag, and incorrect drag). Look at the second slide in your modified file. I think it works exactly as you hope.

Thank you for looking into it. Seems like the consensus here is that I shouldn't be relying on groups as much as I do!
