Focus state on buttons and colour contrast issues - accessibility

Hello, I am making a course using Rise 360 and I am using the Rise theme, I'm able to choose a colour for the theme, but I can only choose a "background colour", which is also applied to buttons. ...

I am currently having this exact same problem. I use a purple for the theme (#4c2c92), which has strong contrast with white text but the black focus indicator isn't visible. I tried using a lighter purple that just met contrast with both white (text) and black (focus indicator) but we have had feedback about it being difficult to read. On the Start button (course home page), the focus indicator is much better as it is not just a black border. Could this not be applied to all buttons, including knowledge check and the continue buttons?
