Generate AI Audio: Text-To Speech malfunction
I've been using this feature and all of a sudden I keep getting "We couldn't generate your audio." So I do the "Try Again" button, does not help. I rebooted but keep getting the same error and now I'm stuck. I also deleted the audio, duplicated the slide, and tried to add it to a new slide. Same error. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with text-to-speech generation. Our team has identified and released a fix for the error some users encountered: generating AI text-to-speech greater than 650 characters would fail. This fix should be released immediately, and we'll let you know when that error is resolved.

I just started getting that as well.

Same, this feature worked flawlessly until today.

Update, seems to be working this morning.

I just started getting this today. If I keep the character count below 800 it works. I did not have this limitation last week.
Any thoughts?- RachelleSelvogCommunity Member
That's odd. In the article Storyline 360: Converting Text to Speech | Articulate - Community, it states that the character limit conversion is 10,000 at a time. Not sure what could be going on with your program.

Yes it is. I was working with it all last week and had now issues. I didn't really pay attention to the number of characters, but I can guarantee there were some well over 800 characters. I even tried shutting down and reloading.

I am having this issue as well. Have been generating AI Text-to-Speech audio all day and now after stopping for lunch, this is not working.

I just logged a support case.

Mary, can you share information here from support? Are they going to fix this issue? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. I've been using it for weeks and this morning it was fine too. Now I keep getting the "cannot generate audio" message. I tried creating a new presentation and same issue. I'm getting the problem with every change I try to make now.

Same. It was working great until about an hour ago. I've been using it all day.

Same here. I have not been able to use it all day.

It seems to be an issue if you go over 599 characters. This has not been a problem in the past, but I did find a workaround. You can create two audio recordings with two halves of your narration and place them side by side on the slide. Hopefully Articulate figures out what is happening and fixes it. I have plenty of slides I have created in the past few weeks that went over 599 so something must have happened to the software today to make this an issue.

My character count is 5000 and I am below that, but it still won't generate my audio. It has been an all day thing and it is getting frustrating.

Mine also says 5000, but it's just not true...I had a 700-character string that wouldn't work. I removed characters in increments of 50 and when I got down to 599, it worked so I just created two audio files and placed them back-to-back because I needed a work around until Articulate fixes it.

Yes, it looks like 600 is the limit and I know I was over that last week. I even shut down my computer and rebooted and opened a new blank project with the same results.

Yes. Last night Support suggested that I use the Turbo option instead in the settings until the "bug" was identified and fixed. Unfortunately, for my project and language (French Canadian) the Turbo pronunciation was not good. I returned to the project this morning to see if I could adjust the Turbo settings and didn't have any success. I then tried again to use the AI Text-to-Speech without the Turbo and it is now working. Perhaps they identified the bug and got it fixed! Try again everyone!

I processed a 915-character string that processed successfully just now!

I just did an 879 character string with no issues. Thanks for the quick fix. Will continue to test.
