Ghost link
Hello Storyline developers,
In the attached screenshot you can see that there is a link that points from slide 2.10 to slide 2.11.
I want to remove that link, but I can't find it anywhere in the slide of 2.10 (also attached). Does somebody know how to debug this?
Thanks in advance!

I looked at your screenshot and then at the slide itself. It appears to be correctly set up to me. One suggestion would be to put in an empty slide as a new 2.11 and then point 2.10 "next slide" to the new 2.11, and see whether that removes the link you observe.
Does the slide play correctly now?

Hi Verhoeckx,
Looking at the image, you have that page for the "previous" going to page 2.8 and then the "next" going to page 2.11. Without knowing where you wanted it to truly go, I can't tell you whether or not there should be a "next" location or if it should stop there. If you wanted it to stop, uncheck the box for that.
I didn't find it in the .story file--possibly because the file doesn't have the error.

Hello Joe and Teri!
Thank you for trying to help me!
@Joe: I did what you described: I removed slide 2.11 and created a new one (slide 2.9 in the new situation). Sadly, it now points to slide 2.14 :-0 (see screenshot)! I don't know why it keeps doing that! I can't find anything that points to slide 2.14 (or pointed to 2.11 in the previous situation).
@Teri:
Slide 2.13 (was slide 2.10) should work in the following way:
The back button should point to slide 2.12 (was slide 2.9) and the next button should only point to slide 2.8.
To make everything worse: when I press Save it takes more than 7 minutes to save the project and when I try to preview the project the same thing happens.
When I run the project, the slides jump from version 2.13 to 2.14 (and not to 2.8 as it should do).

without seeing all the slides it is difficult to diagnose.
What I can see is the slides is really slow, it is something to do with the slide master as if you swap it then it all speeds up.

How can I share it with you?
The story-file has become very big: 5.2 GB (was 4.8 GB in earlier versions).
The story-file is so big, because the e-learning has a lot of videos. I asked if someone can give me better compressed videos, but I'm still waiting for an answer.
Al the other problems that I have, have been reported to Robert and my case number is 00840602.
I can provide you a link where you can download the story-file (it stored on my own Nextcloud server), but I won't share it here on the forum.

Hi Jeroen,
Can you make a separate file without the videos? From the image you shared, slide 2.13's back button is pointed to 2.8 and your forward button is going to 2.14, You need to change the forward to point to 2.8. To help, I recreated your outline with the changes I made. I'm also attaching an image for you.

Your idea to create a new project without the videos is a very good idea, but sadly by doing this I encountered a few new issues:
- Despite removing all the videos in the new project and saving it, the project stays at 5GB?
- I couldn't save the project the first few tries, because the virtual disk (80 GB for Windows and Articulate Storyline only) was full again. After inspection I saw that the directory AppData/Roaming/Storyline was eating a lot of the disk space. Had to delete some files before I could save the new project.
I see there is also a lot of data in the directory Appdata/Local/Temp/Articulate/Storyline. Can I remove those files too? Is that safe?
About the story file you sent me:
I don't see any triggers that point to the previous of next slide, but despite of that there is an arrow pointing from slide 1.3 to 1.5? Where is the trigger/code that is doing that? The ghost link still seems to be present.
The last couple of months I try to stay positive about Articulate Storyline, but my god, what a lot of bugs and quirks does it have! All the problems have cost me many, many hours!

When I unzip the story file and look inside the directory story/media all the video files are still there! But when I go to the Media Library, it says there are nog videos in the project.
I deleted the videos by clicking on the video objects in the timeline and pressing Delete. Is this not the right way?

Do a save as , close the file and reopen then save that should remove the files.
It keeps them in case you undo.

Hello Phil,
Thanks, that works, but of course it should delete the files when you click on just Save (as all programs do). If you don't do that, it will keep the files indefinitely. I user can't and shouldn't know that you have to press Save as.
But thank you for helping me.

I think when you close and reopen it does remove the files next time you save, this is just a foolproof way to sort it

Okay, will try that the next time!
I added the complete project as an attachement to this comment. With this file I have the following two problems:
- When you click on the next button of slide 2.13 you go to slide 2.14, but you should go to slide 2.8.
The trigger to go to slide 2.14 doesn't exist, but is executed (?).
The trigger to go to slide 2.8 does exist, but is not exectucted (?). - When the project contains all the video and audio files, it takes more than 7 minuten to save or preview the project. Does somebody know a way to bring that number down?
Thanks in advance.
(I had to write this comment three times, because the first two tries were rejected by the forum.)
