Having some trouble with feedback layers obscuring page numbering
Hi ThierryEMMANUEL
On the other hand, could you be more specific about your solution for displaying the timer on top of all the other layers? I've added “Set ShowTimer to value True”...
I apologize for the confusion. I had already implemented a fix where I created a new variable ("TimerShow") to replace the original one ("ShowTimer") and updated the associated triggers. Eventually, I removed the "Set ShowTimer to value True" trigger because it wasn’t serving any purpose. I’m sorry for misleading you. I encountered a similar issue with the preset return masks, and honestly, I’m not sure what I did, but the issue disappeared. All in all, I believe the project became corrupted at some level, but fortunately, it’s salvageable to the point where it fully works.
It works perfectly Nedim . And it's very simple. I hope this solves HannahWright-70 's question.
So, in your opinion, the behavior of the original ShowTimer variable was corrupted somewhere, that's why something was going wrong. Sounds true but mysterious.
Thanks to you, I learned something today (as I do every day with Storyline). I used to think that you had to hide a layer before you could display it again. But you don't.

ThierryEMMANUEL Yes. To be more precise, I believe a trigger on the Feedback Master was corrupted and had to be recreated.

Thank you both so much for your help on this - I was definitely confused as to how it appeared OVER the 'dimmed' background in one file and under in the other - when all triggers were created organically based on the originally linked tutorial instead of copied from one file to another.
Ultimately, I suppose it doesn't matter if it's over or under the transparent background - I just like consistency, and I think the best way to get there is to understand everything. If all it ends up being is a corrupt trigger, there's not much I can do about where it appears.- Nedim10 months agoCommunity Member
Hi Hannah,
In your replicated course, the issue originated in the Feedback Master, where the "Hide other slide layers" option was checked. And this option was also checked in the feedback layers on individual slides, causing the Time Loop layer on the master slide to be hidden whenever any feedback layer is shown.
Honestly, I’m not sure how this happened, especially since, as you said, you didn’t copy any slides from the original project into the new one.
The solution was either to:
- Uncheck "Hide other slide layers" in the Feedback Master, which would automatically apply the same setting to all slide feedback layers.
- Manually change the setting (uncheck "Hide other slide layers") on each individual feedback layer on the slides.
If this fix was applied, then there’s no need for additional triggers and variables as shown in the tutorial. Why? Because the "Show layer Time Loop when the timeline starts" trigger on the master slide is enough to ensure that this layer remains visible at all times. The timer and page counter would still be visible beneath the feedback layers since all feedback layers are set to 29% transparency.
If the feedback layers were not transparent at all, the timer and page counter would not be visible. In that case, you would need to follow the tips from the tutorial, using additional variables and triggers to ensure the timer and page counter always remain on top, regardless of the layer settings.
In a nutshell, if it doesn’t matter whether the timer and page counter are above or below the transparent background, the "Show layer Time Loop when the timeline starts" trigger on the master slide will suffice. However, if they need to be on top of everything, then following the tips from the tutorial is the way to go. I’m not suggesting that you remove or disable any necessary triggers—just clarifying how this would work in your project under these two different scenarios.

I think something must have changed in because I always remember you had to hide it to show again. but looks like you don't now
