How can I reorganize slides within a scene in Storyline?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on an Articulate Storyline project and I would like to reorganize the slides inside one scene.

In Story View, I can see my scene with several slides connected together, but I’m not sure what the best way is to change the order of the slides or decide which slide should come first in the scene.

Could someone explain how to properly rearrange slides within a scene?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • StoryView indicates how all the slides are connected.

    • When a course is linear, the slides appear in order in a vertical column.
    • When a course branches, StoryView does its best to represent the flow. That, however, doesn't always end up as neat as we developers would like it to be.

In the example you posted, StoryView correctly shows that the user can get to slides 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, and 3.7 from the custom menu slide. But those slides don't appear in numeric order from left to right.

As I understand it, in that type of situation, StoryView determines the order based on the order of the buttons in the timeline. So you could try reordering the buttons there. From what I've read in the community, you also have to close the file and reopen it for StoryView to reconfigure its layout.

Keep in mind, though, that how the slides appear in StoreView doesn't impact the user's experience. They always access the slides based on the triggers.

In StoryView, you can simply select a slide and drag it to its new location, see here for info.
