How to change the Modern Player colours other that "Dark" & "Light" theme in Articulate Storyline 360
Hello,
How can we change the color of the Morden Player in Articulte Storyline 360?
If we select the Modern player, it shows only two options:
- Dark
- Light
Can anyone help me to find a way to use the different colors for Modern Player?
Thanks,
Amey Sawant
Hi Amey,
You can change the colors for the modern player, using the Light or Dark options, and one accent color. Here's how.
If you need more control over colors for each player feature, you have two options for that. You can switch to the classic player and use the advanced color options as described here
Or, you can turn off the player altogether and create your own custom navigation with buttons, hotspots, and hyperlinks. Here's how to turn off the player in Storyline 360.Hope that helps!

Hi Ashley,
Thank you for your response.
I know we can change the player color using classic player, but is there any other option to change the colors for modern player other than Light & Dark?
Thanks,
Amey Sawant
Hi Amey,
We started with those two options and the addition of the accent color, but we'll let you know if we add more color themes in the future. I'd love to know more about what you'd like to see.

I would like to see at least some other choices for dark and light themes for the modern player. At a minimum at least a few solid colors, perhaps based on your already chosen design theme, like the accent color comes from.

Hi Ashley,
Thank you for introducing the Modern player. It is really cool stuff for HTML5. I have raised the feature request for the modern player more color.
Thanks for your quick support!

Hi Ashley,
I also like the general design of the Modern Player, but shouldn't the default dark and light colour schemes comply with accessibility guidelines (e.g. WCAG 2.0 AA contrast ratio of > 4.5:1) since these colours cannot be edited?
Some examples: the visited menu links on the Dark scheme do not comply, and neither do the Light scheme menu, title, and resources links.
I appreciate that I can use the Classic Player and edit all the colours, but just wanted to know the rationale behind releasing the Modern Player if it is not accessible?

Peter

Hi -
I couldn't agree more - just a slight change to make this compliant would have been great. I can't get my head around why it was not designed this way.

Hi Peter,
I'll pass that along to my team! I know that they're looking at adding additional support for accessibility features, and so that'll be a good reminder. I know a few other folks have access for various color changes, so it's definitely a feature we're keeping an eye on.

Ditto on that request :)

I concur with being able to choose our own colours for the modern player.

Also, is the new search feature meant to be accessible? As a test, I tried tabbing to it but wasn't able to do so successfully.
Hi Janet!
You should be able to tab to the player Search feature in the modern player. Here's a screen recording of how it should work.
Can you tell me more about how it's working in your file?
Hi Marcela,
Thanks for weighing in on this. We started with the light/dark option with an additional accent color to keep things simple - but I know our team is looking for some more ideas on how you'd prefer to set this up. I'd love to know a bit more about what colors you'd like to customize.

Yes, as much as possible. No two projects are the same, so if we can have a full spectrum of available colours, it would be idea.

Just jumping in to say I have been trying to get a navy blue frame with a lighter blue menu background to please a client that currently has that with the classic player. It's hard for clients to understand why it can't look like it does now (old version) and allow students to use mobile devices. Please provide ability to use a full spectrum of colors instead of just black or beige.
