How to include a downloadable file within Storyline
Hi Monika,
Hopefully others in the community can chime in with their suggestions, but here's a discussion that covers a tip for your scenario. Take a look and see if it helps!
This article doesn't seem to exist any more(?). When I click "How to trigger an immediate file download on a storyline 360 project" I get an error. Is there any more insight on this? I have a need to have learners simply download a file directly, rather than clicking a link and opening it.

There a couple ways to do this.
1 - You can add the file to the Resources section of the Player.
2 - You can use the following trigger on a button or other object. Open URL/file when the user clicks X object. If you don't want users to click anything, you can change the trigger to anything else. Maybe when the timeline reaches a certain point.

To refer back to the original question, this trigger option (Open URL/file when User Clicks object/text) still opens the pdf in a web browser tab instead of automatically downloading. Does SL 360 offer a "download" instead of "Open" option here?

Hi PeteMercierUTK,
Thanks for following up! At the moment, Storyline 360 doesn’t have a built-in trigger that lets you automatically download a file like a PDF.
I’ve submitted a feature request on your behalf for the ability to initiate direct file downloads.
In the meantime, you can learn more about how we handle feature requests here.
