How to Master Articulate Storyline for Interactive E-Learning Projects?
I understand the layers vs slides lens. Whether to lightbox. Master slides vs instances. Master slide layers vs instance layers. With enough of a metaphorical squint, they're just a hierarchy of information containers. I have a project in development that uses one image object as an "audio sprite." The "image" doesn't actually contain any graphical data, but it has 24 states, and each state contains a distinct audio file. The sprite is used in a JavaScript interaction that essentially "plays" the image's states like a keyboard. It's an off-label use of an image, but it comes from the understanding that Storyline images are much more than just graphics. That same kind of perspective can be had with the other logical containers too. A slide is more than just a canvas.
Echoing what the others said, I've had fun exploring HCI and how processes and tools can be procedurally represented in a digital interface. I use Storyline for my 9-5, but I also often experiment in it and play in it outside of work too. People get good at things by practicing them and receiving feedback.
