How to remove an initial value (0) from a "Numeric Entry" field
Hello,
Can anyone know, how to remove an initial value i.e. 0 from a "Numeric Entry" field?
Thanks in advance....

Yay, that's great Michele! I'm so happy that works for you. Have a happy Friday! 🙌
Interesting discovery, Trey! Thanks for sharing that tip with us.

Trey's observation set me to thinking as I too was battling with this problem. The issues were further complicated in that I am using multiple variables for each entry. In this way giving the user the option to change an entry which then corrects a total by removing the incorrect value.
The solution I used to eliminate the zero in the entry field was to fully complete the build of the slide (especially variable triggers) concerned and then to duplicate the slide. The effect is that the new slide creates fresh variables which no longer reflect a zero in the entry field.
Delete the original slide and then delete all unattached variables.
To be fair this only applies for the initial interaction, subsequent interactions and resets within the session will again display a zero. Hi All,
A quick update to let you know we've released a fix for this issue where Numeric-entry fields displayed default values of zero after renaming their underlying variables. They should remain blank until learners enter values. You'll find that fix available in the latest update Storyline 360, build 3.28.18944.0.
To install the update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline - you'll find more details here.
Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

If we created the variables before the update, should it give blank values afterwards? Because I just installed the updates and I am still seeing the zeroes.

ok never mind I duplicated the slide and deleted the original and now it works.

Hello. I just ran into this with the latest update of 360, however I was doing this the wrong way, just in case anyone else runs into this.
I made my new vars and assigned them to the num entry field, this does not work, you still get the initial 0 in that field.
NOTE 1: It looks like you have to "rename" vs. "replacing" the var with a new one.
NOTE 2: I need to check if the user entered a value upon Submit, upon checking for 0 the Default, even though it is not showed initially, SL does not see it as zero so I cannot check for init value which is odd. I also tried between -1 a 1 and that did not work.

It still inputs a 0 for me 1 year later on numeric entry fields.

Hi Ashley, these are wonderful news! Is that update also available for Storyline 3 users?
Hi Narrative,
Those same fixes will be in the next update of Storyline 3. Once we have narrowed down the release date for Storyline 3's update we'll let folks know here.

Hey,
I also want to know if there is a simpler solution to this problem, it seems that this case has existed for a very long time and since I have jobs in Storyline 3 that don't works because of this problem I would like a quick solution for it.
