How to Set Up Adaptive Release

Hello.

I have a Storyline course with eight scenes. Most, but not all, scenes have activities and a knowledge check. The knowledge checks may appear at various locations throughout the scenes and may not always be the last slide. Additionally, the knowledge checks are for review and practice rather than grading. Not all scenes have knowledge checks.

The SME for this project would like the ensure that each scene is completed before the next scene can be accessed. Is there a way to "lock down" scenes in this way?

  • You could set the navigation to Restricted.

This is how Restricted navigation works:

    • Storyline puts the Next button in the Disabled state when the user first visits the slide.
    • Storyline changes Next to the Normal state when the slide’s timeline ends. Simply adjust the timeline to adjust when Next will be enabled.
    • Next remains in the Normal state whenever the user revisits a completed slide.
    • This works even if you don’t show the built-in Menu.
    • If you do show the built-in Menu, users will be able to click the Menu to jump to any previously view slide. But they won’t be able to click the Menu to advance to a new slide.

Another option is to create a Custom Menu: TIP: Create a Custom Menu Slide | Articulate - Community
