if you set unlimited attempts at a question will it ever show as completed
Hi,
I've saved a course as a SCORM file and uploaded it with the SCORM file set to completed/failed. However, the course is not showing as completed. Is this because the individual questions on the course are set to an unlimited amount of chances?
With that in mind, how would you need to set the options of a quiz that uses a question bank to get the quiz to show as completed? Does it depend on how you set the individual questions or is it how you set the entire quiz that matters for a course to show as completed in an LMS?

When publishing for an LMS, there are multiple ways to track completion.
- You can indicate that the user has to view a certain percentage of the slides.
- You can put a Completion trigger on a slide that they only reach after finishing whatever you decide they have to finish.
- Or you can track completion based on the Results slide for a quiz.
The Results slide determines whether someone successfully completed a course based on whether they passed the quiz or not. So check your Results slide to ensure its settings provide for successful completion. For example, if you require 100% correct answers to pass, the learner won't "complete" the course until they achieve that score.

Hi Judy and thank you,
That's a great help to me. Is there any way you can ensure completion from individual questions that are scattered throughout a course rather than added as a quiz?

When you add a Results slide, you can indicate which questions it should look at to determine the score. Those questions can be scattered throughout the course.
- The tricky part with that is if the users may need to retake the quiz after they get to the Results slide and find out they didn't pass. For that, special programming is needed so they don't also repeat the content between the questions when they retake the quiz. You can find out more about that here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/tip-review-and-retry-non-adjacent-quiz-questions-without-seeing-the-content-slides-in-between
Another, easier option: Make sure they answer each question (or set of questions) correctly before letting them proceed to the next section. Then just use a completion slide on whatever is the "last" slide of the course.

Hi Judy,
Thank you so much for your help. Given your last piece of advice, if I've set each question so that they get unlimited attempts but they can't moved on until they get the answer correct can I just set a button on the slide at the end of the course - (for example, a page where they're thanked for completing the course) - and add a trigger to exit the course and a complete/passed action trigger too? Will that work with regards to getting a SCORM file to show a completed status on an LMS?
Also, are there any easy instructions on how to set a results page? Can that show pass or fail for individual questions and/or quizzes?
Thanks again for your help

Yes, using unlimited attempts ensures someone can't continue until they correctly answer a question. So the Completion trigger at the end of the course will tell the LMS they completed the course.
