Do you have some links to the JS you found or samples of the code?
Do you have a StoryLine file you can share that has your use-case? It would be helpful if we could start with what you already have and trouble shoot from there.

I've got the storyline file and the javascript file attached. This .js file works perfecly. The only problem I am facing right now is that it won't retrieve the variables form the storyline file. I can't seem to find out what is missing..
