Is there a limit on the size of a story?

Hi. I am in the process of building a large story, but I have noticed that as it gets beyond about 45 MB, strange things start to go wrong eg my background layout randomly disappears from screens, so then I have to reapply.

The worst was today, my story was approaching 70MB and it would not allow me to save any changes if I set my main menu trigger to jump to a slide.

I rebooted, checked my slides for errors, checked graphics and audio files for corruptions to no avail.  I could make other changes but not the menu change.

If I tried to save after the menu change, storyline would hang for about 10 secs, no sign of saving, then just drop out to the storyline start screen, without saving any changes.

By now I was getting a bit worried that my project had some catastrophic corruption.  But when I deleted a couple of scenes  that were in this story(after moving them to a new story), this reduced my story size from 70MB to about 45MB, all was well.  I could modify and save my scene with the main menu and its options.

Has anyone else experienced problems once their story exceeds about 60MB?

I have several courses which are up and over the 100 MB mark (including a few that tip the scales above the 400 MB mark). I also have 16 GB RAM installed.

How much RAM do you have installed, what OS are you running, how many OTHER apps are running a the same time you are running SL, how much free disk space do you have, and are you saving locally (not to a server or the cloud)?

Thank you Joseph. This is very reassuring.

On further investigation it looks like a corruption in one of my scenes.

No shortcuts here, deleted scene, saved project under different name. Rebooted ( not taking any chances) and recreated scene from scratch (no copying bits from the corrupted).

So far so good, project continues to happily grow :))
