While you can create bullets and sub-bullets by formatting the text, if your text is long (or the user views on a smaller device) the Rise approach to formatting means bullets/sub-bullets wrap back to the left margin (so you do not truly get bullets/sub-bullets). Because Articulate has not provided an editor which allows editing the HTML, the formatting often gets corrupt by incorporating other lines of text and authors often have to start over because we have no HTML control (i.e., nested lists can easily be edited if a true HTML editor is provided). Rise Lists The Rise Numbered List and Checkbox list (blocks) work well for the numbered lists and checkbox lists (although I would like more control over bullet/text and line spacing and editing them is a pain because each is a separate item). However, (1) the "Bulleted List" block is almost useless because of the small bullets used (almost invisible on an iPhone 5), (2) the distance away from the text is too large, and (3) there is no ability to change the bullet - authors should be able to pick any available character or glyph, e.g., Bootstrap, Google, etc.). Note the difference in distance between the bullets and text in this Articulate Community editor vs the Rise "Bulleted list" block. (see attached file) You cannot use the Rise Lists within any other blocks such as Interactive > Accordion (your only option is to format the text as bullet/sub-bullet and let the text wrap back to the margin...). You cannot indent or use sub-bullets in any of the Rise List blocks. Why? We would love to see a responsive two-column lists (e.g., when small screen, move the column 2 list below the column 1 list). This would be similar to the Image/Text block already provided). With no control over the spacing of list text/items, we need to be able to create two-column lists to save vertical space. I know of no other eLearning software with text formatting that does not provide hanging indent capability! Actually, I don't know of any software or online system that uses the Rise approach to formatting bulleted (or numbered) lists! Interestingly, the Rise text editor doesn't work anything like this Articulate Community editor (which properly format bullets/sub-bullets as hanging indents -- mostly, since the sub-bullet incorrectly uses the same bullet character regardless of the number of levels). If Articulate programmers need to reference something that works, start with your own Community editor! EVERY SME who has reviewed a Rise project for us has asked about the formatting of these bullets/sub-bullets (wrapping to left margin). It is ugly and does not appear as most users expect. When you dig down into the generated HTML for a Rise project, it isn’t that Articulate hasn't been using nested <ul> and <li> to create their formatted bullets/sub-bullets -- instead, the problem is that they are intentionally applying CSS styles that make it appear so ugly/misformed! THIS IS A BUG NOT A FEATURE! PLEASE FIX YOUR CSS! Create and apply new styles, if necessary. Honestly, we should not even have to ask Articulate for such an obvious fix...this and the ability to move blocks/groups of blocks between lessons and courses should have been incorporated into Rise long ago...

Hi - Great question and I could see a lot of uses for that. It's not currently a feature within Rise to have a sub bulleted or additional indent. I can share that with our team who is looking at ideas for new features and functionality though. Also, you're always welcome to share your ideas in the form of a feature request here.

In the interim, a nifty workaround might be to paste a bullet character into a text block instead. Here's a quick Peek at how I might do that.

OK so I know this thread is mega old, but if you stumbled on it like me and then found out that there's no official solution... I might have one!

You can create a bulleted list block, add in your normal points and then duplicate the block and change the content width padding:

Is there a way to format the sizing and spacing of the bullets in the text block to match that of the bullet list block when doing this? It's rather weird visually to have to use a different looking list for this, if lists are a part of a course's content. (I mean without going into the output files, at which point I could just change the list block).

I usually find lots of requests on here to be ignorant of Rise's original purpose, but there's no reason responsively why this isn't an option. If Rise can make a list in a text box responsive, it can do it in a list block as well.

Hi I am also trying to increase the indent for a bullet and only the text is indenting. The Bullet remains in the same spot. See video attached.
It also look like you can create a bullet list within the bullet list... but then you have double bullets which looks silly.

Hi Yun,

The increase indent option should be available on the text editing pane that will come up wherever you can highlight texts. In the below clip, I added some bulleted points in the accordion block.

You can also contact our support team if you have more questions regarding this or any other feature in Rise 360.

I'm not seeing a way to add bullets between lines in a numbered list, but I can understand the need for that! I'll let our team know you need the ability to mix numbers and bullets. Thanks for reaching out!

  Thanks for your note. My question is a little different than what you addressed. I want to move text closer to a bullet. This can be done, for example, in Power Point or Word. Is there a way to do that in Storyline?

Hi there... I realize this is an older post but I am brand spanking new to Rise. What I was hoping for was to be able to use bullets under a numbered text paragraph for example:

11. The consequences of this action could be:

point 2

point 3

I seem to be having difficulty - when I highlight the items to be bulleted, it switches my number to a bullet as well.

Is there a way around this?

  Hi there, Janet. Using Rise 360, you can manually add bullets to a text block if you want your spacing a bit tighter. Here's a screenshot of how that looks; the bottom bullets were added manually:

This is still a recurring issue with the Bullets Block. I have found that when trying to enter bullets as text block, there are spacing issues when trying to tab to align with left margin.

I have found a work-around. I thought to use a Apple Mac to type "Alt/Option" + 8 (*) to manually enter bullets by default. You can just Shift/Tab in the Bullets Block then Option/8 to make sub-bullets then go back to a Windows PC if you need to later.

I hope this helps until we actually get a fix after all of this time.

Just wanted to reignite this thread as I'm desperate for the ability to add sub-bullets in the bulleted list block.

If we can't have this, how about the ability to specifiy the colour of bullets used in the text blocks.
