Is there any way to batch import audio files in Storyline?
I want to batch import audio files in Storyline, similar to how I do it in Presenter. Is this possible? If not, is it an upcoming feature?
thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth! (Love the avatar!)
Unfortunately, unlike Presenter, there's currently no option for importing multiple audio files at once in Storyline.
However, I do think that would make an excellent feature request! Audio options are definitely popular requests, so please make sure you provide as much information as you can when you submit your request to our development team. We take these requests seriously and the more information we have, the better!
Thanks!

actually there are quite a few really good feature options that are available in presenter that are not in storyline. :-)

Mike showed a nice trick where he batch imported in presenter and then imported those slides into Storyline.
NOt much use if you have already built the slides though.

Hi Phil,
Do you have the link to that forum article?
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan,
This thread is much older, so I'm not certain that Phil is still subscribed. I'm not sure which thread Phil was referring to, but hopefully someone in the community maybe Phil even will pop in here.

Hi Ashley,
Thanks for responding so quickly.
I have a presenter file that has audio on each slide of the 20 slides. I tried to import the powerpoint file with the audio that I was using with presenter into storyline 2. The powerpoint slides imported into storyline, but there wasn't any audio.
Any thoughts as to why there isn't any audio on import? I've heard that this is supposed to work.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan,
Were they M4A audio files? If so, this is a known issue detailed here. There is a method in there to extract the audio from the powerpoint prior to importing.
Hi all! I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 8 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here.
The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixes an issue where M4A audio files in PowerPoint wouldn't be imported into Storyline. You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.

So there's still no option to import multiple audio files like we could in Presenter? Since that question was from 3 years ago I was really hoping a batch feature would have been added by now. It gets really tedious importing audio to each slide individually when there's 20+ slides. Having to do it first in Presenter and then import that into Storyline is inconvenient, not to mention not everyone has Presenter as well as Storyline anymore.
Hi Jen,
There is no batch import option - but I did want to ask what you meant in terms of first importing into Presenter/Powerpoint and then into Storyline? You don't need to have them first in Presenter - you could import individual audio files directly into Storyline. The information Crystal shared above was in regards to a fix with Storyline having difficulty capturing the audio files when they were imported in from a Powerpoint file where likely they were recorded.

That was the suggested workaround earlier in the thread since batch importing is not an option (2nd response, from Phil). The whole point is avoiding having to import them individually into Storyline since that gets a bit tedious and time consuming when you're talking about 20+ slides. Sorry I only replied to Crystal in the hopes that the update also included a fix for the initial question since it was posted in the same thread.
Hi Jen,
Sorry for my confusion - I wasn't sure if you were looking to batch import a lot of audio directly into Storyline or were importing from the Presenter/Powerpoint set up and having difficulty, which was the element fixed and mentioned by Crystal. Always feel free to start a new forum thread with your question or describe in detail in an existing one the problem you're having, as you can see they sometimes deviate from the original question!
