Definition of Class

This position assists in the development of on-line courses and converts print-based instructional materials to be used in web-based courses. The incumbent trains faculty and staff in the use of on-line course delivery methods and interactive classrooms.

The incumbent works with staff in developing effective online course delivery methods. The incumbent provides primary Help Desk support to end users related to their online learning profiles.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assists faculty and staff in the development of web-based courses.
  • Converts print-based instructional materials into University selected course delivery system.
  • Modifies and revises existing courses as needed.
  • Verifies the integrity of courses offered via the Internet.
  • Codes necessary HTML and World Wide Web documents for conversion purposes.
  • Trains and assists staff in the use of on-line course delivery methods and trains staff on the administrative functions associated with the online course system.
  • Provides input on decisions concerning the development and implementation of online training programs, and assists with instructing staff on the best use of instructional technology.
  • Stays abreast of current instructional technology by attending conferences.
  • Provides user support to end-users.
  • Answers questions and solves general problems relating to on-line course and instructional technology software.
  • Designs and coordinates the publication of fliers, brochures, reports, newsletters, and related materials.
  • Researches and/or develops additional learning tools, adapted to the best approaches for adult learners, to incorporate into online courses.
  • Troubleshoots all areas of the online course system, such as course registrations/completions, performance metrics, and handling user support problems, and makes decisions to remedy user support issues, including providing primary Help Desk support to ICN’s end users related to profile creation, online course registration, and course completion.
  • Actively researches adult learning theories and modern e-learning course development and pursues related professional development opportunities to offer advice to ICN staff and/or to assist in making informed instructional technology-related decisions.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  1. Converts print-based instructional materials to be used in web-based courses; modifies and revises existing courses as needed.
  2. Trains faculty, staff, and students in the use of instructional technologies.
  3. Provides user support to meet faculty, staff, and student computing needs.  

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.

 

AND


Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
