Learner to Ask a Question within Storyline Redirected to an email?

I am wondering if there is a way for a student to send a question on the content of the SL file in an email, or some other way, directly from the SL file. We are changing over to a new LMS that does not have an "Ask a Question" feature. We are thinking of building this feature in the SL file. Ideally the student could click a button, write their question, click send and their question would be directed to an email account.

On a side note, I have experimented with Google Forms, but it doesn't seem to allow the student to stay within the lesson. Instead a new browser window opens.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Angela, I don't think there is any way to send directly unless you could set up a website on your server (or a different one) that could be embedded into a web object inside a SL slide. Email fields within the web object could be filled in and then the email sent directly from that server.

Simpler, as in the attached example, you could trigger a short prefilled email to be sent from the user's own email application. You can fill in the fields in SL and then have a new, ready to send message open in the user's Outlook  (or whatever) application. Not ideal, but it could work.

  • Nathanial's method should work. The only problem you might encounter is that it will open and populate the email, but they will have to click to send it. Might not be a problem, depending on how savvy your learners are.
