limiting access to Next button: inconsistent behaviour.

I've made a block with several tabs along the top, as in the picture, and I want the user to work through each tab in order.  I'm trying to make sure that the next tab in the sequence, and the "next" arrow only become clickable once the user has accessed all of the content on the current slide.

To do this, I've tried adding variables like in the picture attached.  On this slide, the user just needs to hover over each coloured segment of the circle to reveal a text box to read, then they click "view all" to read a summary.  Then they should be able to move on.

This works by clicking the next tab in the sequence ("Support"), but nothing happens when I click the Next arrow.  They are both set up identically, so what am I doing wrong?  I have used this same method on other slides, and they are behaving as I want them to.

Thanks for any help.

  • Hi Julian!

I'd love to help find the fix! I'm having a difficult time understanding the setup with just the screenshot. Do you mind sharing the file as well? You can attach the .story file to this public discussion or upload the project privately in a support case.

Hi Lauren, thanks for your reply and sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I've just attached the file for you to have a look at.

The issue is on slide 1.5 and 1.6. Once the user has clicked on all of the content, the Next button should become active, but this doesn't seem to work. The user can, however, click on the next tab along the top of the screen.

  • Hi, Julian.

Thank you for sharing the .story file!

I noticed the same behavior in slide 1.5 that you described, so I want to connect you with one of our support engineers. I went ahead and opened a support case for you, so you should hear from our team soon via e-mail.
