Links to files in resources
Hi, Is it possible to have a hyperlink in a slide to a file in the 'resources' section in player?
If not is there a way to link to files without having the issue of storing the file somewhere?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Kind regards,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I don't think it is possible to link to a file in the RESOURCES tab, but you can use a trigger on, say, a button or shape, to download a file, like so:
Hope this helps!
Hi Ryan,
Here are directions on how to link to a file you've stored in the course player Resources section. Additionally as Veronica mentioned you can link to files directly as shown here.

No problem Veronica. :-)

Ashley, I have seen that there is a local copy of any files saved in the output files once the stoyline is published which is something of which I had not been aware.
Thanks for your help.
Kind regards,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Glad you found that and it worked for you as well.

This is not working for me. What could I be doing wrong?
Hi Brent,
This discussion is quite a bit older, so it's hard to say what may be going wrong on your end, as you may even be using a different version of Storyline!
Let's start from scratch...
- Do you know what version/update of Storyline you're using? You can check by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline".
- If you're attaching resources, are you adding them into the Player, as a link on a slide, or both?
- Where are the resources stored originally on your computer?
- What happens when you link them and test the published output?
Finally, if you're able to share a copy of your .story file that may help us track down where you went astray! Upload it using the Add Attachment button and we'll take a look!

Hi. Hoping to open this discussion back up. I'm in Storyline 360. I've uploaded files to the resources tab. Hyperlinked to them. But I always get an error that there is no file. One thing might be that I'm in the master slide (it's basically a link on a menu bar) so maybe that's why? Any ideas?

Hi John,
Happy to help here! Let's see why that error message is showing up.
A few questions for you about this:
- Does the error message occur after publishing your course? Or is this happening while previewing your course?
- You mentioned that you are in the Master Slide, is this a custom resources tab? Or is the design similar to what is outlined here.
Please keep us posted and let us know if you have any questions!
