Long saving times

Hello all,

I want to compare with you how long does it take for you to save your projects. I don't mean publish, just saving the .story files.

It's taking me around 3 minutes just for saving (02:48.56 minutes the last measurement.) I know Articulate is a very special software development company, but this is a very long time to wait just for saving. And with prone-to-crashing program we need to save very often.

My current project has 70 slides, and is somewhat strong in pictures and a few short videos. My computer is very decent: a Lenovo ThinkPad L14, that is, a nice SSD disk, 16 GB of RAM, i5 processor...

I have been using the tool for many years and saving was never fast, but this is getting ridiculous. Any thoughts?

  • It works like this, the bigger the file with high-def pictures or video, the longer it takes. I did one project that took over 5 minutes to save. I think my record was 15 minutes due to a lot of poorly done video. The file was huge. Check and make sure all videos are saved in a compressed format (check with someone that may know more) and all graphics are as compact as possible.

AlejandroGon656   I agree  with Eric re: video compression and images. A few years back I had a similar problem to yours: 3-5 minutes save time. If you haven't already done this - to quickly assess and pinpoint possible problem areas view the media library contents to determine whether any item can be edited and re-imported at a lighter weight, or if there are any items you can delete. In my case, I found multiple versions of videos and audio files that I had deleted were 'stuck' in the media library. I have no insight as to why that happened - but cleaning up the media library dramatically reduced my 'save-time'.
