Looking for open-source free LMS, preferably online
Hello articulate community,
We currently do not have an LMS to record assessment and evaluation results, nor track participant progress. Our aim is to build a business case for our business to invest in one, but in the meantime I was hoping to use a free open source LMS to assist in building this case by providing working demonstrations of the benefits. Prerferably one that is online/
Can anyone assist with some reccomendations? Please ask if you need more info from me.
Cheers
Damian

Hey Damian,
Dave Moxon did a nice little blog series not too long ago on open-source LMS options. These are the ones that he reviewed:
Another good idea is to check into Articulate Online, which although it isn't free, you can get a 30-day free trial so that you can give it a test drive and try out all the reporting & tracking features. It's really easy to use, too.
Docebo is great, however, 4.5 was the last release before they went cloud based.
Correction... 4.6 was released, however, only of few of us got it before they stopped releasing it altogether. - JonesyBrownCommunity Member
I suggest you to try LearnMax LMS..
It is available online and can be customized according to requirement of client..

I've been using Moodle for testing my courses online, easy to set up and administrate.

There are BTW a lot of books on Amazon that cover setting up, using, and theming Moodle, ranging in difficulty from beginner/nontechie to expert/techie. Difficulty of use is approximately the same as WordPress, I'd say.

I second @Hofmeyr de Vos' comment. It's relatively easy to set up - all you need is a WAMP server. If you're just looking to set something up as a proof of concept, you could download WAMPServer and then run Moodle off of /localhost - ScottKayeCommunity Member
I have tried many different open source LMS solutions, and I always go back to Moodle.
I have a server through namecheap hosting. With my admin panel for the server there is a product called softalicious. Using that product (free) and choosing moodle installs a full up to date moodle build on my server.
Basically costs me only the cost of hosting and the domain name (somewhere around 50$ a year)

Hello Everyone,
I have a similar question as Sarah. I have developed my first Storyline module and have published it to LMS, but I don't know how to connect it with the course I set up in CourseSites. Ideally, I would like the students to complete the quizzes in the Storyline module and then for me to be able to see their results in the CourseSites course. If anyone has had success in this area, I would really appreciate your advice and suggestions. Thanks!
Anne and Sarah,I use Coursesites as my LMS for some projects I work on. I also use it to test my projects that I am working on before I upload them the main course. I have recorded two Screenr demos of how to publish your Storyline course as a SCORM package, upload it to Coursesites and then go in and view the student responses. Hope this helps.

Mark Woolwine - You are a star!
Thank you SOO much! I have been struggling with the CourseSites/SCORM issue for months now and then you come along with the answer. You have made my day!
I just followed your instructions and it is working perfectly now. Thanks for taking the time to record the screenr videos and for sharing them with us.
Have a great weekend!
Anne
