Loosing slide layout setting
I wondered, is anyone else having issues losing their slide layout selection? I am applying my layout in the normal manner, but when returning to the .story the next time/next day (or whenever), randomly one, two or three slides (always different ones) in the file will have lost their master slide setting, returning it to a blank setting, but still showing the correct master in the thumbnail at the left of the screen. In 10 yrs+ using Storyline, I've never seen this, then for the last few weeks, every day. I can check all slides are good, save, exit Storyline or just close the .story, open it again and they are randomly gone. I will report this to support, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this? Thanks!

Hi Louise!
Sorry to hear that Storyline isn't saving your Layouts!
I see that you've also opened a support case being handled by my colleague, Jan Lua. It looks like Jan Lua just replied to your e-mail sharing insight and troubleshooting steps. I suggest giving those a shot to see if that does the trick!
We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.

Yes, I get this all the time, it is very annoying, especially when it occurs just before a publish. I have even reduced the size of the storyline to a few slides so it is easy for me to check, and it still happens. It takes up a lot of wasted time in my working day to fix!! The issue nearly always happens on transition section slides which automatically revert to the default slide layout.
Hi mdennis62,
That sounds frustrating, especially when you’re wrapping up a course and things go sideways.
You’re not alone in running into this. Someone else in the thread worked with one of our Support Engineers, Jan, and had success with the steps he shared. Here’s what he suggested:
- Work locally.
- Repair Storyline 360 by fixing unexpected behavior.
- Clean up your file:
- Open a new Storyline project and delete the default scene.
- Go to File > Import > Storyline and import your existing course.
- Save the new file to your local drive.
Let us know how that goes. If the issue sticks around, we’re here to help!
