MS Narrator Not Reading On-Screen Text

Hi folks!

We're having difficulty with the MS Narrator screen reader picking up on-screen text and static content in our eLearnings. Narrator picks up on the interactive elements (buttons, sliders, SL360 player, quizzes, etc.), but completely misses everything else. Alt text is available for the elements, and the objects are checked "yes" as being visible to accessibility tools. Any guidance/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!!

  • Hi Phil! Yes, I'm navigating with up/down keys. When revisiting, the issue seems to only occur on slide layers, not the base content.

      Hi Aryn,

      Happy to help!

Can I ask if you were able to test your course using a different screen reader to see if the behavior is specific to MS Narrator? Storyline 360 courses work with the latest versions of NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack so we recommend testing with any of these screen readers.

If you can replicate the behavior using other screen readers, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

  • Hi Jose! No problem. I tested with NVDA and am ending up with the similar results. I've submitted a support case. Thank you for your guidance :)
