New button when publishing Rise to LMS
Hi Everyone!
Happy to provide more clarity on the Rise 360 setting, Only Load in LMS!
If your Rise 360 course contains content and elements that must be launched in a separate window, outside of an LMS environment, we suggest toggling this feature Off when publishing. However, please note that Quiz and Completion tracking will not be supported in these additional windows.
To prevent Rise 360 content from being launched and viewed in separate windows outside of your LMS, Only Load in LMS should be toggled On.
Please let us know if you have any more questions!
Hi Steven!
Do you mind further clarifying (maybe with an example) what this new publishing setting affects? I just tested a course I developed where one SCORM file had this setting toggled to ON, and the other version (of the same course) had it toggled to OFF. During my test, the links I have hyperlinked as buttons inside of the course opened the exact same way as new tabs in the browser. So, I am stumped on what this publishing setting differentiates between courses.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi ShelbyPittman-a!
Absolutely! Happy to explain this further!
The Rise 360 publish setting Only Load in LMS does not control whether regular links open in new tabs or windows. Links (including button hyperlinks) behave the same either way because those settings are handled by the browser and not Rise 360.
What the setting does control is whether the Rise course itself is allowed to run outside of an LMS context. For example, if someone opens the course URL directly, or if the course launches itself into a new window outside of an LMS shell.
Imagine your Rise course is published to an LMS and normally launches inside the LMS player.
- Only Load in LMS = ON
- The course checks: "Am I running inside an LMS?"
- If yes, it loads normally.
- If no, it will not fully load the course content.
- Only Load in LMS = OFF
- The course does not require an LMS environment and can load even if:
- Someone opens the course URL directly.
- The course is launched into a separate browser window.
- The LMS spawns additional windows outside of the main player.
- The course does not require an LMS environment and can load even if:
Also, in those cases, quiz and completion tracking will not function in the additional windows.
Essentially, this setting governs where the Rise course can run, not how links inside the course behave.
Please let me know if you still have questions!
