Offline Viewing with modern player
I think the reason that the AMP has been 'left behind' is that it's use breaks the link with the SCORM tracking on an LMS (coupled with the cost of maintaining apps of course). Many of my clients want to track completions so can't use the app. However there are other clients who are using Storyline as a performance support authoring tool and they would really value the ability to download and access learning content offline so for example a short 'how to' guide could be accessed in the field where there is patchy 3G coverage.
Spotify is a good example of how you can mix and match online and offline - when i travel I will download some music but generally I'll use the web client.
Ultimately we may be able to consume content offline and still track via the LMS using some form of hybrid approach...or maybe absolutely EVERYWHERE will be 3G connected at some point in the future!
