Open text box/field in Rise 360
Hi. Is it possible to add an open, blank text field in a lesson on Rise 360? I would like users of my course to be able to write reflective comments as I pose questions.
Thanks, Dan.

I'll add my voice to the choir of users asking for a free-form text box in Rise...

We need this feature as well--a free-form text box in Rise

Just endorsing Darren McKinnon's suggestion from a year ago: "... adjust the "Fill-in-the-Blank" Knowledge Check to have an accept ANY answer option."
Ideal state would be an open, free-form text box as many others have requested, but this would surely be a low-bar temporary workaround?
Articulate, where are you on this?

Hi, I'm in need of this too! I embedded a TypeForm but I have to have it as a separate lesson because the embed always jumpts to the top of the page - so I can't have it as the 4th block in a lesson, for example. I think Darren's idea of Articulate adjusting the fill in the blank question is a great one!

I am also wanting an extended response/text box option with the ability for the learner to download/print their responses.

I just submitted another product feature request. Fingers crossed.

Having a free text box where a learner can put their own reflections or predictions is a really important tool for retention of training. It looks like it was first requested 9 years ago, fingers crossed it will be added soon! I think Darren's suggestion sounds like a great idea to solve the challenge.
Hi Heather! Thanks for adding your voice to this request. We'll keep you posted if we make changes that will help.
While Darren's suggestion is a great idea, Renz also shared a possible workaround here which can be a good alternative. I hope this helps!

I would like to see this feature made available.
I won't hold my breath though, given this was raised over 4 years ago without any progression. The short answer question and long answer question is one of the most common question types. I expect you have a very good reason for not including this from the start. I would be very interested in understanding why it hasn't been deployed.

I tried the 'embed a form' workaround and although it works fine it would give a much better experience for the learner and for the trainer to have an inbuilt block in the same style that works in the same way.

I use lots of multi-line text entries. I have used google forms (awful, and blocked in some places), iframe embeds with custom HTML (mixed success), and storyline files (horrible user experience, very slow to load, but works).
I've attached my generic storyline text entry box. I have to publish this each time in a course I want a text entry to make them unique (I haven't gotten around to making a smarter component), then insert them into Rise using the Storyline interaction. Sometimes I have to adjust the background/brand colour first in Storyline before I publish to match the block background in Rise, which is a pain. Storyline also has a scrollbar bug in the modern player where they don't necessarily appear for overflowing text areas, so it has to use the classic player (also a pain).
My storyline will complete itself only when you enter text and hit save so that you can capture the event in Rise for use with the Continue button functionality.
Once in Rise, I then have to set the top and bottom padding to none (which still leaves 4.5rem at the top and 8 rem at the bottom - Rise doesn't know what "no padding" means for embeds) and then set the player size to Small (which is still slightly too big). It's not the greatest solution, and the fonts are always glitchy.
Simply allowing "any" response in a knowledge check (any text is correct, no text is incorrect) would satisfy 90% of my use cases. Feature requests for changes to existing components seem to be ignored by Articulate.
