Overwriting a SCORM and course interruption

Hello,

Is there a rationale or checklist that summarizes the scenarios where overwriting a SCORM will not impact learners that are currently going through a course?

From my experience, as long as the slide count is similar, the SCORM edition is the same, and no changes were made to the menu, a course update/overwrite will not impact learners currently going through the course or enrolled in the course but have not started it.

Is there an official best practice around this?

Thanks,

Eitan

  • all learners, which have started, but not finalised to course, will loose their resume data

    storyline generates on every publish a new resume id* for the scorm suspend/resume data

    so the suspend/resume data of other course versions will be ignored and the course will reset

    this can cause problems if you use

    • Menu: restricted navigation
    • Slide Property: resume saved slide (or automatic decise)
    • if the learner has interrupted the training after the first failed test and the course is then modified - this must be tested beforehand

    * if nothing structural has changed, this resume id can be manual overwritten with the old one

    html5/js/data.js -> "resume": {"id; "   ",
