Poor image quality when uploading an image with Rise
Hello,
I created and saved-for-web a .png image in Photoshop. When I uploaded it with Rise (as a centered image in my blocks-lesson), it converted it with poor quality. Is it possible to avoid those artifacts? Looks not so good when a course is viewed on PC screen.
Thank you!
Hi everyone!
Do you have an image that looks blurry in Rise 360? We've designed a workaround to keep your images looking crystal clear.
If you'd like an image to keep its specific file format and not undergo compression, you can opt-out of image optimization on a case-by-case basis. Add _NOPROCESS_ to the name of your image file. It'll upload and display exactly as you saved it. Keep in mind that the 5GB file size limit still applies, and you could see an increase in your output file size.

Hello, is there any update on this issue? I too experience quality loss when uploading images to Rise. The original post for this thread was posted by Irina Poloubessov over 1 year ago - that seems like an awful (almost unacceptable) amount of time to not have a resolution for this issue?
(Thanks for the genius workaround Daniel Nyakana - it's a welcome but unnecessary step and fairly time consuming when you use a lot of images (as I do) in the design)

Hi Alex,
I don't have an update to share at this time, and I know it's frustrating that this issue is still lingering in Rise. Rest assured our team is aware of the problem and we're looking into how we can come to a solution. I promise to keep you posted if we get a fix in place.

I have Just come across this problem with my first attempt at using RISE. My images are being heavily compressed not just by .jpg conversion but also PNG-8! 8bit compression is not cutting edge its equivalent to GIF?
So far I am loving RISE but this might quickly become a deal breaker, I need more than 256 colours!
Full disclosure - I have not published this course only previewed it and saved images from the preview, so forgive me or correct me if when publishing the course the images will be compressed to a higher standard, but even if this is the case there should be more options or control available.
Hopefully someone may be able to comment/assist?
Hi Andrew, thanks so much for reaching out about this. I spoke with our Rise team, and we'd love to take a closer look at your course to see why this is happening. I'm going to send you an email shortly with instructions on how to do that.

Hi Alyssa, Got your email and followed the instructions! Thanks
Thanks, Andrew! I've got your Rise course and original images. I'm going to share all of these assets with our Rise team, and I'll reply to your email as soon as I have more to share!

Thanks for sharing those original images, Michelle. I also saw a loss of quality when I uploaded those files to a multiple choice quiz question.
Our team is looking at ways we can improve image quality in Rise. As we make new developments on this, we'll make sure you're in the know!

Would be nice to be able to set the compression inside Rise or turn it off completely pls.

I agree we need more choice. PNG vector artwork looks garbage when compressed into low quality jpg, artifacts all over the place and edges are not crisp and clear. At least allow us to chose a format and quality setting. At a min I would suggest having a button to select the RISE compression or no compression. I have had to use a Storyline block to get nice PNGs through.

Hi, I am also having the same issue. Uploading any images, PNG, JPG, they all become blurry.

Having the same issue here. It seems uploading photographic images in JPEG or PNG renders fine on Rise - but as long as it is outputted from Photoshop - with any sort of composition on top of it, the image quality deteriorates dramatically. I've temporarily resigned to exporting from Photoshop (2019) to GIF and uploading - regardless if it is a photographic or illustrated image for now as GIF produces a more visually tolerable image deterioration when compressed.
