Previewing a single layer

Not sure if I'm missing something, but is it possible to preview a single layer from a slide. I have slides with many layers and if I need to preview a change I made 20 layers in I need to go through the whole process.

This would be a nice add on to the preview options.

  • There's no option to just preview a layer.

However, for the situation you describe, you could add a temporary "show layer__" button on the base that would let you see the desired layer without having to step through all the others.

That's what I'm doing right now. Just trying to avoid extra steps. Thanks for your input.

I like this idea but the snag I hit is if I have AI audio over the base layer it still plays at the same time as the voice overs on the layer I skip to. I'm trying to line up the audio with a video that autoplays so I still have to sit through the whole base layer before I can skip to the later one.

Is there perhaps a way to skip media playing in a layer that would be a work around here?

  • When I develop more complex slides/courses, I'll have a row at the top or bottom with buttons to jump to specific slide/layers so I don't need to use the course navigation.

Unfortunately, there isn't. It'd be a great addition, though. Testing buttons to display slides as others have suggested is what I've done as well.

  • Thanks for jumping in here, DrLeo and Silverfire, you’re both highlighting important gaps in the current workflow.

You’re right that there’s still no way to preview a single layer in isolation. The existing workarounds, like adding temporary buttons or jump controls, can help in some cases, but they start to fall apart on more complex slides.

Dr Leo’s example is especially helpful because it shows a related limitation: when jumping to a layer for testing, base-layer media and AI audio still play, which makes it difficult to line up layer audio or timed video without sitting through the entire slide every time.

I’ve shared this combined feedback with our product team as a feature request, since the ability to preview a layer on its own, or suppress base-layer media during testing, would make iterating on complex slides much more efficient.
