Publish as MP4 with subtitles
Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 73, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One new feature we’ve included:
Boost video accessibility by including closed captions when publishing projects as MP4 video files.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!
Hi Martin,
Thanks for sharing the details of your experience with us! Accessibility concerns have driven the feature change regarding producing a subtitle file when publishing to Video.
Do those platforms support other subtitle formats, such as SRT? If so, you may use a tool to convert the VTT subtitle file to SRT before uploading.
If they only support MP4 files with hard-coded subtitles, you can merge the VTT file to its MP4 counterpart using a third-party tool. For starters, you may use Handbrake, free software, to merge the subtitle to the video. But if I'm correct, it only supports SRT files, so you need to convert the VTT to SRT first. There are online tools that will merge the MP4 to VTT directly.
Let me know if that helps!
Hi Eric,
I've looked into third-party tools as well, but let's just say it's not that easy to use them in a Corporate environment where all software needs to be greenlit by IT/Security.
But since Articulate has their stamp of approval, I'm just using a previous version for the time being to hardcode subtitles.
