Question about Storyline local files synced to Onedrive

If I save my Storyline files on a Mac desktop or in the Documents folder, that's a local drive, correct? We can agree on that. And Storyline is supposed to be saved on a local drive. So far, so good!

But if the Mac's local drive is automatically synced to OneDrive as a backup, will this syncing cause issues when saving and working with the Storyline files?

Thank you! :)

If OneDrive works the same on the Mac side as it does on the Windows side, the OneDrive folder should appear as a directory within your profile's directory, e.g., my OneDrive folder is inside of C:\<userID>\. That makes it a local directory in Storyline's view.

I've been working with that setup for about 3 years now, because company policy does not allow for a solution like Box or DropBox, which are similar environments to OneDrive/SharePoint. I have had no issues with file corruption, including with files are quite large (several hundred megabytes). When I DO Save and Close Storyline, I allow OneDrive to sync with the cloud environment, so that the latest file is uploaded and versioned.

If you're concerned about multiple users working in the same file, keep in mind the last one to save and commit will overwrite all other saves. If that is an issue, you CAN, through the web interface, check the file out. In doing so, you're setting a pessimistic lock (blocking anyone else from working on the file), so be sure after saving and committing, to go BACK to the web interface and check the file back in.
