Quiz questions attempts locked at 1
Hey guys....I'm building a quiz in Storyline 2 and the format of the quiz requires that the questions don't need to be answered in any particular order and you can freely navigate, but once you submit your final answers, the quiz is locked. That part I have, but my problem arises when someone wants to go back to a previous question to check their answer, and cant pick a new one because the question is locked down. This wouldnt be a problem if I could set the attempts to unlimited (once you go to the results slide you can't go back so unlimited attempts isn't a problem) but the drop down menu is grayed out and unclickable in 70% of the questions, so I can't change it. Anyone else see this problem?

Hi Ben,
If the questions have been submitting, this sounds like it's working as described. You could look at setting up a retry button on your results slide and using the trigger to "reset results" but than the user would need to retry all the questions. Or before they actually submit, you may want to set up a method as described here.

Hi Ashley,
Hope you've been well. Hey, I looked through the online resources, but didn't see the exact guidance I'm looking for. I simply want to ensure my course-end assessment (pool of questions in a question bank) is set to unlimited attempts. What's the best way to check / set this?
Thanks,
Corey
Hi Corey,
That each question allows for unlimited attempts or the pool as a whole?
The questions can be set as shown here. As far as the quiz as a whole, Storyline doesn't limit you to a certain number of attempts, so you can include the "retry button" on the results slide and allow users to take it as many times as they want. You may want to reach out to your LMS to see if they'll only accept the first score or the final one once the course is "submitted". In case you need it - here is a way to limit quiz attempts.

I appreciate your quick response, Ashley. Looking to allow learners to take the final assessment as many times as needed 'til they pass. I went back to the course that I've been working on and intentionally failed it, then again, then again. Looks like the default is to provide unlimited attempts, so I'm all set!
Thanks again,
Corey
Happy to hear it Corey and glad that'll work for you. :)

Thanks, Ashley.
One more thing... I'm trying to insert a link to a video (video file is
on my laptop) and have the learner click a button for the video to start
when I instruct them to do so. Suggestions?I appreciate your help,

FYI - I figured out how to insert the video. That's all set. However, i just retested failing the assessment multiple times and I believe after the third failure, the retry button no longer appeared. Thoughts? Thanks.
Hi Corey,
Glad that the video set up worked for you. In regards to the retry button I'd have to see it to double check how it's happening - can you share the .story file here?

Hi Ashley,
Hope you've been well!
Looking for your guidance again. This time it's the challenge of
inserting a video into a Storyline 2 project and having timed bullet
points presented on-screen next to the running video (and staying
continuously in sync).I worked on this yesterday and all was going smoothly, but when I tested
it last night I discovered a glitch. Although the video and on-screen
content was perfectly synched when played, if I suddenly rewound the video
or fast forwarded it midstream (as a learner might do), it knocked the
timed on-screen content out of sync. Not what we want. I tried a few
different things, but couldn't find one that worked.Advice?
Thanks very much,
Corey Klein

Hi Ashley. Thanks for getting back to me. I was able to figure it out yesterday afternoon. All set!
Speak with you soon,
Corey
Sounds good Corey - and sorry for the delay. :-)

No problem, Ashley. Real quick... Do you set each final course assessment question to "Reset to initial state"?
