Sorry to hear my teammate Steven's suggestion is not working on your end. Great to know what you have tried and that you've rolled back to an earlier version of Storyline.
It would be helpful to see your setup in order to get a closer look. Feel free to share your .story file in this thread or privately in a support case.
In the meantime, I'll open this up to the community in case they have any JavaScript workarounds that have helped them with their projects!
