Recording a SME with Replay 360 on a computer without Articulate 360

It stands to reason that I, as a content developer, will not be a SME on many of the topics that I will be tasked to create eLearning. Generally, this is not a big problem, except when I need to record a screen with Replay 360. Our company security protocols will not allow me to have someone else use my computer to log in to an application while I am logged in using Articulate 360. How then do I allow the SME to use their computer to run the application we need to record when the SME does not have an Articulate 360 license and the software on their computer? Using Trial Software does not work for repeated needs and doesn't seem fair to Articulate, and purchasing an additional license just for this use is out of the question. Maybe I am stuck just using trial software. I'm happy to hear any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Hi,

I am facing a similar issue in my organization as well. Did you manage to find any workaround for this issue?

      Hi SiddhiAdhav-261,

I'm happy to help point you in the right direction!

It will be helpful to learn how often this will be done. If this is something you'll only need to do once, I'd recommend your colleague sign up for a trial. Alternatively, adding a user seat to your team will allow you some flexibility! The account owner can purchase a seat by Signing in to their account management console > Manage Team or Billing > Buy More Seats. Or, by choosing Manage Subscription > Add More Seats.

If you have any questions or need assistance with purchasing, I'd be happy to connect you with one of my team members in a support case!

        Hi Kelly,

We are happy to pay for a user seat, but it seems that Articulate does not have a concurrent license strategy where any one user can login as long as there is only one logged in a time. Is that correct?

It's likely not a one-time thing for several of our SME's, but maybe more like 3-4 times per year a few days at a time. They will not do any editing, only recording their screen. It makes no financial sense for us to purchase full licenses for these people when they will use the software 3 total weeks per year. I also read that user license can only be transferred 2 times per year if I remember correctly. This is also not an option for us.

It's a shame Articulate does not have such a license like this, it seems many people share the same struggle and I'm sure many would be happy to buy a concurrent/roaming license for these situations. Instead, we are now forced to look for alternatives that fit our needs.

      Hi SiddhiAdhav-261 ,

We have not found a solution for using Replay 360 other than what KellyAuner outlines in her reply. Since my original post my company has been using Microsoft Teams throughout the company. There are a couple of methods for doing screen recordings in Teams. The recording can be downloaded and edited for content and edited with voice over. This provides us with a usable result.

Our company is over 15,000 employees worldwide and the options of additional seats for a one-off or occasional recording need is not feasible.

        Hi @RussLowder,

Thank you for letting me know. Have you observed any drop in the video quality? In my previous organization, I tried it with Zoom and noticed that the video quality dropped drastically.
